Matthias Compes studied business administration in Germany and then began his professional career with an American petroleum company. He then moved to the investment controlling department of Brenntag SE and took over the financial management of the Austria / CEE region for the group in 2000. In 2013, he moved to CEO responsibility in the region and took over the role of Regional CEO for Germany, Austria, Switzerland in 2016.
In addition to his career in various corporations, he has also gained experience as a shareholder in his own family business, which was sold to a private equity investor in 2019. Matthias Compes is a passionate golfer, fly fisherman and photographer and is involved with the Water is Right Foundation as a member of the board of trustees.
