With 25+ years as an investment banker, advisor, entrepreneur and investor, Joe brings broad, in-depth experience that is greatly valued by clients and their advisors in the pursuit of corporate goals.

As a Managing Director of Corporate Finance Associates (CFA), Joe advises business owners, boards and senior management on mergers and acquisitions, debt and equity financings, valuation optimization and acceleration, exit planning as well as restructurings and lender workouts for financially distressed companies. Joe's focus is not just transactional, but also the strategic planning to make sure the business and its principals are going to realize their goals in a transaction. This includes: goals, feasibility, business optimization & value acceleration. This aspect was developed from his experience as investor, owner, operator of 4 middle market businesses over the years. One didn't work out well, two were great and one was a 14x return in 4 years. His best advice: long term planning including exit planning is a must in order to: a) improve transaction probability and b) maximize value.

Joe's experienced in consumer products and services, manufacturing, multi-unit retail, transportation/logistics, distribution, technology, healthcare, industrial and business services. Clients are generally private companies with revenues between $25-300 million. Past clients include Jiffy Lube, 7-Eleven, Subway, Exprezit Convenience Stores, 3PD Logistics, National Semi Trailer, Alder Foods, Guardian Health, The Atlantic Group, Fiberon Decking and J.Jill Stores.

Prior to CFA, Joe founded The Spectrum Capital Group in 1996, an investment banking and merchant banking firm with a national practice. His partner was a former Goldman Sachs investment banker and corporate attorney from Sherman and Sterling. The firm completed dozens of transactions with both healthy and distressed businesses as both advisors and merchant bankers, making direct investments and taking on active operating roles. In 2009, Spectrum sold its investment banking practice to Morgan Keegan, a subsidiary of Regions Financial (NYSE:RF).

Prior to Spectrum, Joe was VP of Fulcrum Capital, an investment bank serving consumer products companies. Joe was the Director of Corporate Development for a rapidly growing direct marketer and manufacturer of children's clothing taking the company from $12 million to over $100 million in revenues in 4 years. Earlier, Joe was an associate with Merrill Lynch in NYC and started as a CPA with Arthur Andersen in NYC.
