Susan Baird’s critical thinking, strategic analysis and written communication skills support her ability to execute targeted industry sector research projects for clients in order
to identify strategic buyers, sellers and partners for that sector and to prepare the marketing documentation needed to introduce the designated opportunity to them. She supports
divestiture, re-capitalization and acquisition projects, including industry consolidations and roll-up strategies.
Susan is a graduate of the University of California at San Diego (B.A., English Literature, cum laude, 1998). She earned a J.D. degree from UCLA Law School, where her coursework
included Environmental Business Transactions, Business Associations, and Advanced Real Estate Law. Susan has practiced law in Portland, Oregon at the law firms of Lane Powell, PC and
Ball Janik LLP, and in San Diego, California at the law firm of Allen Matkins Leck Gamble and Mallory LLP.
Susan’s areas of legal practice have included transactional commercial real estate law, California state and federal environmental law, land use law, water use law, and corporate
law (with a focus on corporate structure and formation).
Susan has published articles concerning 1031 tax-deferred exchanges utilizing the tenancy in common and the benefits and pitfalls of construction guarantees. She has also presented
seminars on easements and commercial leasing.
