Bud Cline is a senior CFA investment banker with over 30
years of experience in corporate finance, accounting and
management. Bud has a strong grasp of both "the big picture" and
"the details" and knows that transactions fall apart when they
are not well managed. Bud brings to bear both the interpersonal
and organizational skills to navigate through the many
roadblocks inherent in a major transaction.
Bud Cline has more than two decades of experience in a
traditional public accounting practice. Between 1976 and 1999
Bud provided financial statement (accounting and auditing) and
tax services to a variety of industries, including
manufacturing, construction, retail, wholesale, distribution,
banking, and oil and gas exploration. In an effort to expand his
value-added services and capabilities Bud joined the American
Society of Appraisers in 1993 and received special training in
business valuation. Bud performed valuation assignments for
business purchase and sale, estate planning, estate tax
reporting, business disputes and divorce.
Bud ended his traditional public accounting career as a partner
at Plante & Moran in June 1999 by establishing a solo CPA firm
devoted to business valuation and merger & acquisition
consulting. In January 2001, Bud co-founded CFA-Northern
Michigan as part of the CFA Worldwide network. In 2001, he
received the "Accredited in Business Valuation" designation from
the American Institute of CPAs.
Since joining CFA in 2001 Bud has represented both business
buyers and business sellers on a commission basis and provided
valuation expertise and transaction consulting on an hourly
basis. Representative engagements include:
