Thomas Washbush is General Counsel and Director of Acquisition
Services for the Ohio Region of Corporate Finance Associates.
With more than 16 years in corporate law and investment banking,
Tom focuses his national practice on mergers, acquisitions,
restructuring and capital market financing. In the past 15 years
he has structured financing in excess of $17 billion. Tom
represents sellers, buyers, private equity providers, national
banking associations, underwriters, trustees and placement
agents. Tom is a partner in his current firm and has held
similar positions with other firms as well as serving as chief
of staff and general counsel to the Ohio Department of
Development. He is the author of numerous articles including
ones entitled "Ohio Tax Credits Offers Companies Incentives To
Invest In Technology", "Financing Your Business", "Planning to
Sell Your Business", "Shopping Around: Buying a Trucking Company
Through Asset vs. Stock Acquisition" and "Are You Venture
Ready?"
Tom attended Bowling Green
State University and Capital University. He holds a bachelor's
degree and jurist doctor degree. He is a member of the following
scholastic honoraries: Omicron Delta Kappa, Mortar Board, Golden
Torch, Antaeans and Pi Sigma Alpha. He was the recipient of the
Sidney Froham and Alumni scholarships.
Mr. Washbush was awarded
the Columbus Jaycee's Outstanding Young Citizen, the Bowling
Green University Distinguished Service Award and the Bowling
Green University's Board of Trustees Commendations and Business
First Forty under Forty award.
Tom serves on a variety of
boards including the Ohio Industrial Technology Enterprise
Committee and as founder and president of the Association for
Corporate Growth- Columbus and the In-house committee of the
Ohio Bar Association.
Relying on his legal
experience, Tom is effective in working with sellers in
structuring their transactions effectively to maximize their
returns and minimize their tax exposure. Tom's vast network of
financial sources is of benefit to those executives looking to
finance an acquisition or restructure their company's capital
structure. Tom has lead deals ranging in size from $1 million to
$2.3 billion. He has assisted in the acquisitions of publicly
held and private held companies in a variety of markets
including manufacturing, healthcare, software development and
service enterprises.
