Gary brings to each entrepreneurial client his 35 years of
unparalleled experience in creating, negotiating, and closing
strategic transactions in mid market corporate finance, both in
the US and abroad. His successful clients have included some of
the best-known companies in their industries, all of whom were
drawn to his extensive knowledge, business acumen, and friendly
demeanor. Prior to joining CFA in 1998, Gary gained 15 years
investment banking experience at Merrill Lynch and a large
international M&A boutique. At one point, he even became acting
CEO of a client, where he turned the company around for eventual
resale to a leading NYSE health services company.
In addition to heading CFA's practice in the important New
York Metro Region, Gary founded and chairs the SysteMatic©
Acquisition Search division, as well as the Insurance Industry
Practice Group. He is active in CFA governance as a member of
Board of Directors.
As a CFA senior officer, Gary has extensive experience and
knowledge that form the foundation for his success in the
investment banking industry. Representative engagements include
the following:
- Engaged by various domestic and foreign middle market
companies to accomplish a sale or recapitalization of the
business, including the valuation, marketing document
preparation, prospective buyer/investor identification,
marketing, qualification, auction or limited auction management,
negotiation and overall process management.
- Retained by one of the world's best-known investment banks to
divest a non-core operating division. Following that, they
retained him to advise regarding a strategic acquisition
- Retained by several European technology manufacturers to
advise them regarding acquisitions, both in the US and abroad.
- Retained by a UK publicly-traded company to divest non-core
operating divisions in US and China
- Engaged by numerous private equity and private investment
firms to identify acquisition targets, initiate discussions,
gather and evaluate information and to work to accomplish
completed transactions.
After 35 years as a transaction advisor, investor and lender to
entrepreneurs and their deals across a wide range of industries,
Gary possesses an unusual wealth of experience and knowledge
about commerce, people, and how to make their dealings
successful. He is a skilled negotiator and an innovative
marketer; a calming presence in difficult circumstances; and an
advisor who earns the trust of both is clients and their
"opposite numbers." Gary earned a BA and MBA from Rutgers
University, and has guest lectured at Rutgers, Columbia and NYU
graduate schools of business.
