John spent the first 20 years of his career in operating leadership roles of companies with sales between $10 million and $100 million. John has been President & CEO of four operating companies, including his own company, a public company, and two portfolio companies owned by private equity investors. During this period, John bought and sold a number of companies as the CEO.

Since 2000, John has been a full-time investment banker with a focus on providing personalized service to private company owners who are interested in selling or recapitalizing their companies. He is particularly effective because he understands the owner’s history, perspective, needs, and objectives and he knows how buyers evaluate and value potential acquisitions.

John’s experience as an operator and a banker spans a wide range of manufacturing, distribution, and service industries. He has published research and is a recognized expert in foodservice equipment, contract manufacturing, medical device manufacturing, professional employer organizations, motor vehicle aftermarket, store fixtures, and plastics.

John has served as a director of Butler Automatic, Inc., Coes Knife Company, and Cramer, Inc. (NASDAQ: CRMR)and he has served on the boards of Kansas City March of Dimes, Minnesota Association for Corporate Growth, and the Minneapolis Rowing Club. He is currently the President of Twin Cities Youth Rowing, a program that draws high school athletes from 14 high schools in the Minneapolis – St. Paul area.

John has a bachelor’s degree from Brown University and an MBA from the University of Rhode Island. He served four years of sea duty as a Naval Officer.
