Executive Profile

Roy Graham

Roy Graham

CFA Austin

Roy Graham, Managing Director and Principal, oversees the firm’s South, Central and West Texas investment banking operations.  He serves on the firm’s Board of Directors and is a member of the firm’s Executive Committee. With more than 40 years of experience as a business owner, executive and investment banker, Roy brings a unique blend of skills to every client engagement.

As a prior owner of several companies, Roy brings an understanding of an owner's perspective that enhances his abilities to execute a successful transaction. Years of negotiating experience, an analytical background and a relentless dedication to identifying common interests and opportunities to create value among parties to a transaction, have formed the foundation for Roy's success.

Roy began his career with a San Antonio based NYSE company in 1974, serving as Divisional Controller of a seven state region. He later co-founded what would become a regional retailer with national mail-order operations and one of the first Texas companies to make the Inc 500 List (1983). The company was ultimately sold to a large national chain.

Later and using experience gained as an investor and energy executive, Roy launched a Texas based oil and gas E&P company which drilled, acquired, operated and joint ventured numerous domestic projects primarily in Texas. After divesting the company’s energy properties in the early nineties, Roy elected to build on his more than two decades of business, entrepreneurial and dealmaking experience to form a boutique investment bank focused on bringing M&A services to middle-market companies in Central Texas. He merged this practice into Corporate Finance Associates in 1997.

As a CFA Managing Director and Principal, Roy has managed a wide range of complex assignments reflected in the following list of representative engagements.

  • Engaged by business owners to sell their companies.
  • Retained by a NYSE listed company to implement a national roll-up program.
  • Engaged by a FSTE 100 company to identify and close U.S. acquisition targets.
  • Engaged by privately held companies to recapitalize their businesses
  • Engaged by a NASDAQ listed company to facilitate a joint venture.
  • Engaged by a private investment firm to secure funding for two of its companies.
  • Engaged by privately held companies to assist in identifying and acquiring selected target companies.

Roy earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree in finance from Southern Methodist University in 1973. He holds FINRA Series 7, 79 and 63 securities licenses as well as a Texas real estate license.
